Mechanical Commissioning Engineer | Finland | Major Data Centre Delivery

A major international contractor, known for delivering complex, mission-critical infrastructure across Europe, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join its expanding delivery team in Finland. This is a permanent role supporting the commissioning of large-scale mechanical systems on a high-spec data centre project.

You’ll be at the forefront of commissioning complex mechanical systems, including chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, and BMS interfaces, ensuring systems are fully tested, documented, and delivered in line with strict quality and compliance standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to work on technically demanding projects in a fast-paced and supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate mechanical commissioning activities on site, ensuring timely delivery in line with project milestones
  • Review and track mechanical commissioning documentation including test scripts, method statements, and compliance records
  • Oversee vendors and subcontractors during commissioning procedures such as flushing, pressure testing, and functional performance testing
  • Liaise with QA/QC, safety teams, and commissioning management to align workflows and documentation
  • Conduct mechanical system walkdowns, support issue tracking, and drive resolution of punch-list items
  • Ensure installations are tested against approved design, specifications, and commissioning protocols
  • Attend commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior project stakeholders
  • Support FATs, SATs, and off-site equipment testing when required
  • Maintain strict adherence to EHS procedures and promote a strong safety and quality culture on site

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or trade-qualified with relevant commissioning experience
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in mechanical commissioning within data centre, pharma, or commercial/industrial sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, piping, and controls
  • Familiarity with BMS integration and interface testing
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to manage compliance-driven commissioning records
  • Proven experience managing vendor performance and resolving on-site technical challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a high-performance environment
  • Fluency in English essential; experience working in Northern Europe a plus
